Healthy Environment

I have talked about many different topics, in regards to our health, on this blog. One I do not remember talking about is our environment and how toxic it can be. It seems everything has toxic chemicals from household cleaning products to the toiletries we use; chemicals that are hazardous to our health. These chemicals are hormone disruptors which can disrupt weight loss and even cause obesity. The following Scientific Statement is quite eye opening. If you are at all concerned about this area please read the following journal.  http://www.endo-society.org/journals/scientificstatements/upload/edc_scientific_statement.pdf . They make the statement, “In this first Scientific Statement of The Endocrine Society, we present the evidence that endocrine disruptors have effects on male and female reproduction, breast development and cancer, prostate cancer, neuroendocrinology, thyroid, metabolism and obesity, and cardiovascular endocrinology. Results from animal models, human clinical observations, and epidemiological studies converge to implicate EDCs as a significant concern to public health.”

This is an area I began learning about a few years ago and started making changes in our home. When I did I noticed a significant difference in how sick we all were. I learned when our immune systems no longer have to fight off the toxins from these products it can focus on any other sicknesses trying to enter our bodies. After changing my home over to non-toxic products my children were not sick for an entire year. Wow!! I still had fairly small children. The year before switching they were sick quite often; I couldn’t believe the difference.

If you know of anyone that has allergies (skin especially), eczema, asthma, or sick with colds and flu often just changing your household products can make all the difference.

I found a company that makes products I can trust and have purchased from them ever since. I know there are many resources out there showing you how to make your own laundry detergent, cleaning products, etc. I just don’t have the time. The other issue is expense. We all know we should be eating organic food but it feels hard to justify the expense. It’s the same with purchasing toxic free products. The expense can be overwhelming. The company I started purchasing products through has made sure to keep their prices low. In fact, my household & toiletries budget has gone down since I began purchasing products from this company. I am not the type to push products, but I have used this company for 2 ½ years now and am still thrilled with their stuff. If this is a concern of yours and you are interested in where I do my shopping please email me at sandy@sandysjourney.com. I love to educate and help!
